Can you imagine what the world would be like without tollfree numbers? You know, every business or major company that you would have to call would actually end up costing you tons of money. People would dread being placed upon hold, where those extra cents per minute would really add up in the long run. Imagine if there were no 800 numbers to be had—customers would actually be shelling out five or even ten bucks in fees, while they waited on hold trying to speak to a customer service representative. Most customers would be hesitant to even place a call, avoiding it and actually mailing in a letter.

Customer service would drop greatly and companies would not be able to claim that they are easy to do business with. Yes indeed, a world void of tollfree numbers would be one that is far more costly to both business and client alike. Nobody would want to call in for service, and without those handy vanity tollfree numbers, customers would really have a hard time recalling the phone number of the company they needed to speak with.
